HISTORY
History of The Peddler
The Peddler was established in 1970 by Anthony "Ducky" Schiavo. Ducky was an elementary school teacher, but had a life changing experience after enjoying an afternoon of cycling. His revelation was that many more people should have that same experience.

Within months, the first incarnation of The Peddler Bicycle Shop was opened in Long Branch, NJ.

Within a short period of time, his impact on the cycling community had far out reached the confines of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. He was an advocate of the sport of cycling and key proponent to all disciplines of the sport. Cyclists of every level and age, including professional athletes, benefited from his knowledge and experience.

In the fall of 2001, tragedy struck and Ducky was taken from us so suddenly. His passing left a void in the cycling community that will not easily be filled. True to the Schiavo family form, Ducky's son Michael is carrying on the family-owned and operated business and cycling legacy. Through the knowledge and experiences passed on through years of working with his father, Michael's roots and expertise are in the cycling industry. This type of family commitment permeates every aspect of the Peddler business to this day.

As The Peddler moves into the future the key business philosophies of Ducky and Michael remain firm and true, "Provide knowledgeable and professional service to ensure a positive cycling and life experience".
